Boeing is seeking a Lab Test Systems Safety Engineer in Berkeley, MO, to perform safety risk management assessments, hazard identification, risk assessment, safety requirements development, and mitigation verification throughout the product lifecycle. The role involves collaborating with stakeholders, developing safety tools and processes, documenting safety analysis, and ensuring mission success through Mission Assurance activities. Experience with safety analyses like FHA and FTA is required, with a preference for CSP certification and EHS background.

What you'd actually do

  1. Conducts system research and analysis to identify potential or investigate reported in-service fleet hazards, risks, and safety concerns and quantifies impact
  2. Identifies safety and mission assurance issue systemic root causes and recommends corrective actions using industry best practices
  3. Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to define, validate, and integrate safety, mission success, and airworthiness requirements; incorporates into designs, operations, and procedures
  4. Performs or reviews tests, analyses, inspections, audits, and simulations to verify system meets defined safety and mission assurance requirements
  5. Creates and maintains aerospace safety and mission assurance tools and processes

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Teams
  • Experience performing analyses, preparing presentations and reports for program design reviews, and test/mission readiness reviews
  • Experience presenting oral and written system safety and risk presentations to peers, program management, senior leadership, and customers
  • Experience working with safety analyses such as Risk Assessments, Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault-tree Analysis (FTA), etc.

Nice to have

  • Level 4
  • 5 or more years related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 3+ years of experience in systems safety engineering
  • 3+ years of experience with system safety analysis
  • Experience with product safety or quality management experience, ideally with safety management systems, safety risk management processes and leading hazard analyses for novel systems
  • Environmental Health Safety (EHS) background and experience
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP) is desirable and/or 3+ years of EHS experience
