Labview Engineer

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Warner Robins, GA +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

This role involves developing and optimizing LabVIEW applications for automated test stations, integrating custom hardware, and managing test sequencing, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting within the defense sector. The engineer will also be responsible for creating reusable libraries, collaborating with other engineering teams, and supporting production and field service.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, debug, and optimize LabVIEW applications for test sequencing, data acquisition, analysis, and reporting.
  2. Integrate custom hardware (sensors, actuators, power supplies, DUT adapters, etc.) with test stands, ensuring signal integrity and safety compliance.
  3. Create and maintain reusable LabVIEW libraries, instrument drivers, and UI components.
  4. Implement automated test procedures, including fault detection, self‑diagnostics, and yield analysis.
  5. Conduct root‑cause investigations on test failures and recommend hardware or software improvements.

Skills

Required

  • LabVIEW development for automated test equipment
  • Common test instrumentation (oscilloscopes, DMMs, spectrum analyzers, source‑measure units, function generators, etc.)
  • Communication protocols such as GPIB, USB, Ethernet, RS‑232/485, and CAN
  • Documenting software design in Software Design Document (SDD), Computer Software Configuration Item (CSCI), and/or software flowcharts
  • Version-control systems (Git, SVN)
  • Basic software development practices (code reviews, unit testing)
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaborate within a cross‑functional team
  • U.S Government Secret level security clearance

Nice to have

  • NI‑Certified LabVIEW Developer certification
  • Real‑time or PXI platforms and FPGA‑based LabVIEW implementations
  • Python, C/C++, MATLAB for data processing or instrument control
  • Technical documentation
  • Training materials for end‑users
