Lead Architect for payment processing platforms at JPMorgan Chase, focusing on designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure solutions. The role involves leveraging enterprise AI capabilities to enhance architecture discovery and establish AI-enabled engineering patterns, while ensuring compliance with financial regulations.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the architecture, design, and roadmap for payment processing platforms, ensuring alignment with business objectives and industry best practices.
  2. Collaborate with product managers, engineering, security, and operations teams to define requirements, prioritize features, and deliver robust solutions.
  3. Design and document end-to-end solutions for real-time transaction processing, fraud detection, risk management, and integration with external Payment networks.
  4. Leverages enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment to accelerate architecture discovery and decisioning, with human-in-the-loop validation and appropriate handling of sensitive data.
  5. Establishes reuse-first AI-enabled engineering patterns and governance across SDLC/toolchain practices, ensuring traceability/auditability, resiliency, and security controls.

Skills

Required

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience.
  • Strong understanding of payment flows, transaction lifecycle, and integration with payment networks.
  • Hands-on experience with API design, microservices, cloud platforms (AWS), and event-driven systems.
  • Experience applying enterprise-authorized AI capabilities within the work environment in software engineering and architecture workflows with strong validation habits and awareness of data sensitivity.
  • Ability to evaluate and integrate AI-enabled capabilities into cloud-native architectures while meeting resiliency, security, and auditability requirements.
  • Proven experience in modernizing legacy platforms and migrating them to cloud-based architectures, including assessment, design, and implementation.
  • Solid understanding of architectural patterns that support non-functional requirements (NFRs) such as resiliency, high availability, and low latency.
  • Experience designing and implementing active-active applications for continuous service and fault tolerance.
  • Ability to create and interpret architecture diagrams for system and component-level design documentation.
  • Familiarity with security standards (PCI DSS), fraud and risk management, and regulatory compliance.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Nice to have

  • Experience with large-scale financial systems or high-availability transaction processing.
  • Prior experience working with international payment schemes and multi-region deployments.
