Lead Design Engineer - Autonomous Vehicles

NVIDIA NVIDIA · Semiconductors · Santa Clara, CA

Lead Design Engineer for NVIDIA's autonomous vehicle team, focusing on the electrical, mechanical, and thermal design of automotive setups, including compute and sensor integration. The role involves designing harnesses, developing BOMs, creating CAD models, and collaborating with OEMs and vendors to deliver scalable solutions from concept to prototype.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design the routing and retention of harnesses, cables, and connectors to ensure ease of assembly, serviceability, and robust functionality
  2. Develop BOMs, wire, and material specifications
  3. Create and manage CAD (3D models, assemblies, 2D drawings) using eg SolidWorks and Altium (LV, HV, high-speed vehicle interconnects, mechanical brackets, templates)
  4. Conceptualise with prototyping to find innovative solutions for our autonomous vehicle setups including compute and sensor technologies (LiDAR/RADAR/cameras)
  5. Working with OEMs, vendors and partners (current and potential) to identify the best engineering solution for Nvidia’s vehicle platform
