Lead Engineer, Browser Engine Optimization

This role is for a Lead Engineer focused on browser engine optimization at AMD. The candidate will work with hardware and software technologies to improve application and benchmark performance, applying a data-minded approach to target optimization efforts. Responsibilities include staying informed of trends, designing new technologies, participating in hardware bring-ups, and debugging/fixing issues. Strong C/C++ programming, concurrency, and OS development experience are preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work with AMD’s architecture specialists to improve future products
  2. Apply a data minded approach to target optimization efforts
  3. Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to algorithms and architecture
  4. Design and develop new groundbreaking AMD technologies
  5. Participating in new ASIC and hardware bring ups
  6. Debugging/fix existing issues and research alternative, more efficient ways to accomplish the same work
  7. Develop technical relationships with peers and partners

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Strong object-oriented programming background
  • Ability to write high quality code with a keen attention to detail
  • Experience with modern concurrent programming and threading APIs
  • Experience with Windows, Linux and/or Android operating system development
  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
  • Motivating leader with good interpersonal skills

Nice to have

  • C/C++ preferred
  • Experience with software development processes and tools such as debuggers, source code control systems (GitHub) and profilers is a plus
