Lead Local Trial Manager at Johnson & Johnson responsible for the local management and oversight of clinical trials or Medical Affairs data generation activity. This role involves coordinating and leading the local trial team to deliver quality data and compliant trial documents, from start-up through database lock and closeout. Responsibilities include site feasibility, local trial planning, budget management, monitoring progress, and ensuring compliance with SOPs, GCP, and regulations. The role also involves training and mentoring other team members.

What you'd actually do

  1. Collaborating with Clinical Research Manager (CRM) for country protocol and site feasibility assessments, in conjunction with the local study team. Implements any local criteria for site selection. Ensuring consistent conduct of pre-trial assessment visits and instruct teams on appropriate follow-up of pre-trial visit report and country feasibility report. Recommending suitable sites for selection to participate in trial.
  2. Collaborating with the Global and Local Project Teams to deliver for South Africa.
  3. Contributing input to the study management documents at a country level or initiating development of these documents for a single country trial, as per SOPs
  4. Leading and coordinating local trial team activities in compliance with SOPs, other procedural documents and applicable regulations. Leading local project planning activities to meet recruitment targets and delivering high quality data on time and within study budget. Including but not limited to: development of local trial specific procedures and tools, recruitment planning, contingency and risk management, and budget forecasting.
  5. Maintaining and updating trial management systems. Using study tools and management reports available to analyse trial progress

Skills

Required

  • Life Sciences, Nursing or related scientific field degree (or equivalent experience)
  • English language proficiency (speaking and writing)
  • Leadership skills
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to work on multiple trials in parallel
  • Ability to commute to J&J Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa 3x weekly

  • Clinical trial experience (7 years preferred)

What the JD emphasized

  • minimum of 7 years of ZA clinical trial experience is preferred
  • solid understanding of the drug development process including GCP and local regulatory requirements
  • Project management experience strongly preferred
