Anduril Industries is a defense technology company seeking a Lead Manufacturing Technician to support the production and delivery of Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). This role involves hands-on hardware assembly, troubleshooting, leading technician staff, ensuring safety procedures, prioritizing work, and completing system checkouts. The technician will also be involved in setting up the production line and utilizing manufacturing systems. The role requires extensive experience in manufacturing, team leadership, and understanding of product life cycles and lean manufacturing principles. Experience in sub-sea robotics or AUV industries is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. The Lead Manufacturing Technician will report to the Manager, Production Operations and work alongside other manufacturing/electrical/test technicians, leading technician staff in the production and delivery of AUVs through testing
  2. While executing manufacturing operations, apply a higher level of knowledge and skills in hardware assembly, troubleshooting and repair
  3. Ensure all operators are following safety procedures and standard work tasks. Improve work area safety and efficiency through regular auditing and constant scrutiny
  4. Prioritize work activities for operators to achieve target on time delivery goals. Handle multiple priorities, organize workload, and meet deadlines. Ensure they are working on the right thing at the right time
  5. Apply competency in use of hand tools, assembly tooling and general manufacturing equipment

Skills

Required

  • 10+ years experience in production-oriented manufacturing or electro-mechanical technician fields
  • Prior experience leading a team either in-kind or directly, in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • A full understanding of the product life cycle (NPI to scaled production), LEAN manufacturing principals, and change management (ECOs)
  • Can interpret technical documentation (mechanical drawings, work instructions, building plans, equipment specs, electrical schematics, etc.)
  • Extremely reliable, organized and detail-oriented with excellent verbal & written communication skills

Nice to have

  • 2+ years of operational leadership experience, leading a production team
  • Experience working with ERP and MES systems
  • Working knowledge of AS9100 standards and OSHA laws
  • Experience working with high-voltage electrical components (up to 400VDc)
  • Experience performing functional checkouts and tests, and diagnosing issues discovered during these processes
  • Experience in sub-sea robotics or AUV industries
  • A self-motivated, self-disciplined individual is the ideal candidate for this position
