Lead R&D Technician for a defense technology company specializing in Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). The role involves orchestrating daily activities, allocating tasks, and hands-on assembly, troubleshooting, and testing of complex AUVs and electromechanical assemblies. This position requires strong communication with engineering teams, coordination with production, and ensuring the quality and timely completion of R&D builds. The role also involves training new operators and fostering a positive team culture.

What you'd actually do

  1. Contribute to all stages of the vehicle product development and manufacturing life cycle and provide feedback to the engineering team
  2. Build, integrate, and test complex electro-mechanical assemblies into our world class AUVs
  3. Apply competency in use of hand tools, assembly tooling and general manufacturing equipment
  4. Complete transactions in computer production systems (MES, NetSuite, JIRA) on daily basis
  5. Provide training and support new operator training as required.

Skills

Required

  • electronics experience
  • building and troubleshooting cables and wiring harnesses
  • soldering, crimping, assembling cables and connectors
  • reading electrical system and component schematics
  • electronics test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, etc.)
  • written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skills
  • pivot quickly between tasks and prioritize simultaneous tasks
