Lead Space Survivability/radiation Effects Engineer

Boeing Boeing · Aerospace · El Segundo, CA

Lead Space Survivability/Radiation Effects Engineer at Boeing, focusing on radiation effects in electronics for satellite programs. Responsibilities include leading testing and analysis for total ionizing dose (TID) and single event effects (SEE), interfacing with engineering teams, and ensuring designs meet radiation-related requirements. Requires experience with SEE tests and radiation effects analysis.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead total ionizing dose (TID) and single event effects (SEE) part and technology characterization and qualification efforts, including in-house laser SEE testing as well as heavy-ion and proton beam testing at national laboratory facilities.
  2. Interface with program office representatives and system engineers representing other disciplines to ensure that radiation-related concerns are adequately addressed.
  3. Develop and flow appropriate unit and system level requirements in early program stages.
  4. Ensure that unit and system level designs appropriately consider radiation-related effects such as total dose (to include ELDRS and dose rate effects), displacement damage, single event effects, internal charging, IEMP, SGEMP, and TREE.
  5. Perform and document unit and vehicle level analyses.
