What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the MongoDB representative within the Bay Area startup ecosystem: Develop deep relationships across the Bay Area startup community, building trusted connections with top VCs, founders, operators, and ecosystem influencers
  2. Drive high-value startup acquisition: Design and execute a targeted acquisition strategy focused on engaging and converting high-potential startups in the region
  3. Expand MongoDB’s physical presence in the Bay Area: Lead an ecosystem strategy centered on high-impact founder programming, including VC-partnered events, demo days, hackathons, founder dinners, and other flagship community events
  4. Amplify MongoDB’s startup presence through digital channels: Collaborate with Brand, Social, and Digital Marketing teams to extend regional startup initiatives across social media, earned content, and owned media
  5. Own cross-functional alignment for the regional startup audience: Embed the startup and developer audience into marketing initiatives driven by Revenue Marketing, Strategic Events, DevRel, and other internal teams, ensuring programs and activations effectively serve the startup ecosystem

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years of experience in marketing, community, ecosystem, or events roles focused on startups, developers, or technical founders
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing teams
  • Deep familiarity with the Bay Area startup ecosystem
  • Experience working in or closely with startups or venture capital firms
  • Comfortable engaging technical audiences
  • Thrive in 0-to-1 environments
  • Highly organized and execution-oriented
  • Data-driven
  • Communicate confidently and effectively with founders, investors, and senior internal stakeholders
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy

Nice to have
