Salesforce is seeking a Lead Developer Documentation Writer to define the AI-accelerated future of content for their Multi-Framework capabilities. This role involves developing content strategy, mentoring other writers, influencing product strategy related to AI experience, and demonstrating technical expertise in component frameworks, security, and tooling. The ideal candidate will have 8+ years of experience documenting APIs/SDKs for developer audiences, a deep understanding of how AI agents and LLMs consume documentation, and experience using AI tools to streamline content creation. They will also be responsible for structuring content for AI ingestion and proposing AI-driven solutions to documentation gaps.

What you'd actually do

  1. Driving Strategy: Develop content strategy for broad cloud areas and aligning it with stakeholders in Support, Product Management, and Marketing to meet our business goals.
  2. Empowering the Team: Use your industry-wide experience to serve as a mentor and multiplier for other writers; coordinating work across teams, and sharing constructive feedback to elevate our collective impact.
  3. Influencing Product: Contribute directly to product strategy as we evolve the AI experience. Create clear plans for in-product guidance and reference content.
  4. Demonstrating Technical Expertise: Grasp the details of our component frameworks, security, and tooling to support developers building on the Salesforce Platform.
  5. Championing Innovation: Actively share ideas to improve the customer experience and handle diverse viewpoints with professional maturity.

Skills

Required

  • 8+ years documenting APIs/SDKs for developer audiences
  • deep understanding of how AI agents and LLMs consume documentation
  • experience using AI tools (such as Claude Code or Cursor) to streamline content creation and maintenance
  • Proven ability to manage broad content strategies while structuring content specifically for AI ingestion
  • implementing standards that help LLMs and Agents better understand our content
  • Track record of leading complex projects and proposing AI-driven solutions to address documentation and customer experience gaps
  • A related technical degree required
  • Solid understanding of at least one programming language
  • ability to read code accurately

Nice to have

  • Experience with object-oriented programming (e.g., Apex or Java) and hands-on coding.
  • Proficiency with source control software (Git, Perforce) and IDEs like VS Code.
  • An innovative mindset with a history of process improvements.
  • Strong XML and Markdown skills.
  • Experience with testing and evaluation frameworks to review documentation for AI consumers.
