Leader of Business Development– Millennium Space Systems

Boeing's Millennium Space Systems is seeking a Vice President of Business Development to lead growth strategy, market insight, and campaign execution for national security space missions. This role involves shaping company strategy, leading cross-functional teams, influencing R&D investments, and managing customer and industry engagements.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the Business Development team. Serve as the direct reporting line for the Business Development function, with the entire BD team reporting to you. Recruit, mentor, and develop the BD workforce (campaign leaders, capture managers, proposal managers, cross-functional team members) to match company growth
  2. Lead campaigns and capture. Engage with customers to understand and shape missions, architectures, requirements, standards, and other relevant information. Develop, execute, and win campaigns. Develop win strategies, recommend investments, partner with industry teammates, and streamline and execute campaign and capture processes. Lead proposal development through submittal and follow-through to Authority to Proceed (ATP) milestone
  3. Lead Business Development operations. Spearhead gate reviews to include interest in pursuit, bid or no bid review, and approval for submitting proposal. Identify and maintain new business pipeline to support business objectives. Manage indirect budgets to include Long Range Marketing and Bid and Proposal budgets. Forecast staffing and facility demand from firm and non-firm business and share with relevant stakeholders. Perform market and budget analysis. Streamline and execute BD operations processes
  4. Lead customer, industry, and teammate engagements. Support customer, industry, and teammate visits and events. Develop talking points for customer, industry, and teammate engagements. Develop tailored presentations for customer, industry, and teammate engagements leading to actionable outcomes. Share relevant engagement information and actions with the workforce
  5. As a member of the company Leadership Team, support the CEO on company initiatives as required such as strategy development, long range business plan development, legislative affairs activities, government operations activities, company contributions activities, and other interfacing and outreaching with Boeing leaders, plans, processes, and reviews. Provide strategic input into CRAD and IRAD investments, aligning internal R&D to customer needs and future mission architectures

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering and/or a Technical discipline
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in new business development, capture, and proposal authoring
  • Experience in preparing and presenting executive-level briefings
  • active U.S. Secret Security Clearance

Nice to have

  • Master's Degree or higher
  • Experience interfacing with the US government
  • Capture and proposal experience bidding to the DoD and/or Intelligence Community as a prime offeror
  • 12+ years of engineering experience with Spacecraft and/or Space Vehicle Payloads
  • Experience leading dedicated and/or matrixed teams in accomplishing project, program, or proposal objectives
  • 12+ years of work-related experience with at least 8+ years of capture and proposal experience
  • Specific experience with design, development, and/or operations of space vehicle
  • Demonstrated experience leading DoD proposals and/or Intelligence
