Leased Facility Engineer

Meta is seeking a Leased Facility Engineer to manage and maintain infrastructure in leased data center environments. This role involves onsite operations, landlord coordination, risk management, incident management, and compliance activities. The engineer will execute maintenance on Meta-owned systems, monitor building systems, manage vendors, and act as a first responder for incidents. Qualifications include 7+ years of experience in technical maintenance fields, experience in critical facility systems, and data center operations. The role also requires the ability to integrate AI tools to optimize workflows.

What you'd actually do

  1. Serve as the primary onsite representative for Meta Facility Operations
  2. Execute preventive and corrective maintenance on Meta-owned systems (mechanical, electrical, HVAC, controls)
  3. Develop, update, and validate maintenance procedures and checklists to improve reliability and consistency
  4. Monitor alarms, notifications, and building systems; respond to abnormal conditions and restore normal operations promptly
  5. Maintain accurate maintenance records, asset inventories, and service logs for Meta-owned assets

Skills

Required

  • Experience in hands-on operations and maintenance of critical facility systems
  • Proficient with maintenance management programs and computer systems including documents, spreadsheets, and email
  • Ability to communicate effectively and serve as a liaison between internal teams and external landlords or vendors
  • Ability to regularly walk job site areas of flat and uneven terrain, work at varying heights and from ladders, and stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
  • Ability to use hands and fingers, reach/push/pull with hands/arms/shoulders, and lift and/or otherwise move 45 pounds or more
  • Ability to sit or stand at a workstation for extended periods of time
  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and life safety monitoring and control systems typically used in critical environments
  • Experience interpreting blueprints/CAD drawings and planning large-scale maintenance programs

Nice to have

  • Associate's degree in engineering plus 5+ years of experience, or Bachelor's degree in a related field plus 3+ years of experience in electrical, HVAC, mechanical, or controls will be considered in lieu of 7+ years of experience
  • Trade Certification or state licensure in Electrical or Mechanical (HVAC)
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact
