This role is for an Intellectual Property Counsel to lead the IP function at Crusoe, an AI infrastructure company. The counsel will develop and execute patent strategy, manage IP due diligence and transactions, advise on AI and emerging technology IP, oversee open source governance, protect trade secrets, manage IP risk, handle trademark matters, build legal operations, and advise cross-functional teams. A technical background and experience with AI/ML IP are preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and execute Crusoe's patent strategy from the ground up.
  2. Lead IP diligence and risk assessment for M&A transactions, strategic partnerships, and major commercial agreements.
  3. Draft, negotiate, and manage a wide range of IP-related agreements including technology licenses, cross-licenses, IP assignments, and joint development agreements (JDAs).
  4. Advise on the evolving and complex IP landscape surrounding AI-generated content, machine learning models, training data, and AI infrastructure—navigating one of the most consequential areas of modern law.
  5. Develop and manage Crusoe's open source policy and compliance program, ensuring our use and contribution to open source software is strategically sound and legally compliant.

Skills

Required

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • active bar membership in at least one U.S. state
