Machine Operator

This role involves operating machinery like tractors and trenchers to install, repair, and maintain buried service wires and utilities. It requires manual labor, operating equipment, and coordinating with customers and local agencies. The role is focused on physical installation and maintenance tasks, not AI development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Locates buried facilities near the route of "B" service wire using appropriate equipment. Operate a company vehicle with trailer and machinery.
  2. Locate buried facilities near the route of buried wire using appropriate equipment.
  3. Manual excavation utilizing a shovel.
  4. Provide repairs to low voltage buried utilities or sprinkler systems. Provides temporary repairs to low voltage buried utilities, sprinkler systems, and sewage field lines damaged while performing other duties.
  5. Periodic maintenance and non-complex repairs to equipment used in the performance of other responsibilities.

Skills

Required

  • Ability to work mandatory overtime and holidays as service conditions require
  • Able to utilize various types of machines and tools
  • Lift and carry objects up to 120 pounds
  • Use computers including hand-held devices to update work status and check new assignments
  • Light commercial driver’s license or equivalent required, depending on state law and be able to drive manual shift in some assignments
  • Attain and maintain a DOT medical card

Nice to have

  • Previous operating experience with similar equipment is desirable
