Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · Dulles, VA +1 · Systems/Architecture/Test

Machine Perception (MP) Engineer for Spacecraft Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) department. Designs, develops, integrates, and tests machine perception algorithms for real-time on-board processing on space vehicles and near-real-time processing within ground systems. Involves testing, validation, tuning, collaboration, data analysis, and preparing technical documentation. Experience with Computer Vision, AI, ML, and imaging sensors is required. Experience with spacecraft navigation, robotics, and embedded processing is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. Design, develop, integrate, and test machine perception algorithms for real-time on-board processing on space vehicles and near-real-time processing within ground systems
  2. Conduct rigorous testing, validation, and tuning of machine perception algorithms in simulated and laboratory environments
  3. Collaborate with other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of machine perception systems with the overall space system
  4. Analyze data from heritage space missions to refine and optimize machine perception algorithms
  5. Design, develop, test, and verify flight algorithms for the MP subsystem and support flight software qualification testing
