Machining Cell Operator , Weekend Shift- Nights ( Onsite)

This role is for a Machining Cell Operator on the Weekend Shift at RTX, specifically Pratt & Whitney. The position is designed for individuals with little or no machining or grinding background, offering a 3-week training program followed by 4-8 weeks of on-the-job training to become a Certified Operator. Responsibilities include learning to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, working from specifications, verifying work with precision instruments, maintaining machines, and collaborating with other personnel to resolve issues. The role requires a High School or GED and offers opportunities for skill development in aerospace manufacturing.

What you'd actually do

  1. Learn to set up and operate NC milling/grinding machines, vertical turret lathes or VTC’s to perform routine production operations on a variety of similar weldments and assemblies.
  2. Learn to work from operation sheets, part travelers, BOROPS, and oral instruction to set up equipment for grinding, turning, facing, boring and/or chamfering operations involving a limited number of surfaces to be machined.
  3. Learn to verify conformance of finished work to specifications using precision measuring instruments.
  4. Obtain operator Certification to be able to accept/reject parts.
  5. Learn to maintain machines by performing required total preventive maintenance (TPM)

Skills

  • High School or GED
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English

  • 1 + years of manufacturing, automotive or related trade experience
