Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an experienced Machinist to join their Maritime Manufacturing Technology Team. This role involves fabricating high-quality parts and building assemblies for cutting-edge defense hardware, utilizing CNC machines and interpreting technical drawings. The position requires hands-on work in a production environment, troubleshooting, quality control, and collaboration with engineering teams. Experience with CAD software, various alloys, and precision measuring tools is essential. The role supports the company's mission to transform military capabilities with advanced technology, including AI and computer vision.

What you'd actually do

  1. Read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
  2. Set-up/operate CNC multi-axis cutting machines (3/4/5 axis mills, lathes, and mill-turns).
  3. Design/spec out and implement various work holding and fixture methods.
  4. Troubleshoot issues and make adjustments during the manufacturing process.
  5. Perform quality control both during and at completion of the manufacturing process.

Skills

Required

  • 5+ years experience as a machinist/operator
  • Experience with CAD software like Siemens NX (Unigraphics)
  • Experience with 3/4/5 axis milling machines and lathes.
  • Experience with Fanuc and Siemens controls
  • High level of familiarity with various alloys, metals, plastics, etc.
  • High level of tooling and fixture experience.
  • Proficient in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficient in using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, protractors, tape measures).
  • Ability to own the completion of an assigned manufacturing project from start to finish.
  • Ability to flex between R&D fabrication and production tasks.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice to have

  • Experience integrating mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience working with exotic materials like Inconel, Monel, Titanium, and HY-80).
  • General metal fabrication experience (cutting, forming, welding).
  • Forklift and/or overhead crane certification or ability to obtain.
  • CMM/measurement arm experience (Hexagon, Faro).
  • Experience using CAM software.
  • Prior work with architecture and infrastructure engineering partners and/or general contractors to build, improve or modify machining systems
  • Hobbyist fabricator, welder, builder.
