This role is for a Machinist at Northrop Grumman, responsible for operating and maintaining CNC equipment to manufacture parts to exacting tolerances. The position involves quality inspection, equipment care, material readiness, and training other operators. It requires experience with CNC and manual machining, blueprint interpretation, GD&T, and shop math.

What you'd actually do

  1. Work on and inspect High Value rocket motor case manufacturing activities utilizing Machining Centers and Hand Operations.
  2. Machine parts per specification by setting up and operating CNC equipment.
  3. Responsible for quality of the product by performing both in-process and final part inspections, care and maintenance of the equipment, assuring tooling and materials readiness, and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  4. Provide training to others in all aspects of CNC equipment setup, operation and maintenance.

Skills

Required

  • CNC 3 - 5-axis machining experience
  • running manual machines and performing set-ups
  • Fanuc Controller experience
  • read and interpret production specifications, production diagrams, assembly drawings, and technical specifications
  • read and interpret blue prints
  • GD&T
  • following written set-up instructions and /or performing unique set-ups
  • resolve unforeseen, unique issues as they arise in machining a part(s)
  • complex measurements and advanced shop math calculations
  • Lean manufacturing principles and disciplines

Nice to have

  • Fanuc Controller preferred
