Machinist - Level 4 role at Northrop Grumman focusing on setting up and operating manual and CNC machinery, including milling machines and lathes. What you'd actually do

  1. Able to set up and operate a variety of machine tools including but not limited to milling machines, lathes, and able to align and fasten work using tooling fixtures.
  2. Able to use & understand tool sharpeners, tool tolerances, dimensions, calibrated measurements, setup sheets, callouts, probes, feeds & speeds, and standard specs.
  3. Able to use a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments to make standard shop computations relating to dimensions of work.
  4. Plan machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  5. Perform computations relating to dimensions of work, tooling, feeds, and speeds.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Experience running machines and setup
  • Experience on 3 Axis CNC machines

Nice to have

  • 4 years of experience with 5 Axis CNC vertical machining centers.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
  • Associates degree or Trade School certification
