Northrop Grumman is seeking a Maintenance Electrician 4, a journeyman-level position responsible for advanced installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and modification of electrical systems and equipment in industrial and heavy commercial environments. The role requires technical expertise, independent judgment, and leadership in ensuring safe and reliable operations. Key responsibilities include working with power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, and automation equipment, performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing faults, working with medium and low voltage systems, and ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards.

What you'd actually do

  1. Install, maintain, troubleshoot, repair, and upgrade electrical systems, including power distribution, motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, instrumentation, lighting, and automation equipment in industrial/heavy commercial settings.
  2. Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational reliability.
  3. Diagnose complex electrical faults using multimeters, meggers, thermal imaging, and other diagnostic tools; interpret schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  4. Work with medium and low voltage systems (up to 480V or higher as required), including switchgear, transformers, motors, generators, and control panels.
  5. Ensure compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), OSHA standards, Utah state regulations, and company safety policies. Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and maintenance activities.

Skills

Required

  • Utah Journeyman Electrician License
  • 5–7+ years of verifiable experience as a licensed Journeyman Electrician in industrial or heavy commercial environments
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including PLC programming/troubleshooting, motor controls, variable frequency drives, and data acquisition systems
  • Proven ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-line diagrams, and P&IDs
  • Physical ability to work in industrial settings (standing for long periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, working at heights, confined spaces, and varying temperatures)
  • Valid Utah driver’s license and a clean driving record
  • High school diploma or GED

Nice to have

  • Master Electrician license
  • Experience with specific industrial controls (e.g. Allen-Bradley, or similar)
  • Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, and CMMS software
  • Leadership or mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of Utah-specific regulations and industrial safety standards
  • Welding, rigging, or basic mechanical skills
  • Knowledge of refrigeration and HVAC systems
