Merck's Animal Health division is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for their Worthington, Minnesota Manufacturing site. This role involves installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing equipment, utility systems, and buildings for vaccine manufacturing. Responsibilities include general maintenance, mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, preventative maintenance, and participating in an on-call rotation. The position requires a high school diploma/GED or trade school diploma, willingness to obtain a boiler operator's license, ability to read schematics, a valid driver's license, and physical capability for lifting and working at heights. Experience with OSHA standards, computerized systems, and team collaboration is also required. Preferred qualifications include a Minnesota Boiler license, experience with building management systems, pharmaceutical/biopharmaceutical equipment, lyophilization, WFI systems, refrigeration, autoclaves, and GMP manufacturing.

What you'd actually do

  1. Direct involvement in the overall maintenance, inspection and repair of highly technical equipment, facilities, and utilities in a biopharmaceutical Industrial/Manufacturing environment.
  2. Possess a fundamental understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic schematics and mechanical drawings to solve problems in a timely manner at the component level on all manufacturing equipment
  3. Ability to troubleshoot AC/DC Electrical components (up to 480VAC 3 Phase) including motor starters, switches and sensors found on manufacturing equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters and amp probes.
  4. Mechanically inclined with the ability to work with hand tools, power tools, machine tools, and test instruments.
  5. Ability to perform routine preventative maintenance functions, audit PMs, and task lists, giving feedback on improvement ideas and ensuring all parts list are accurate
