Maintenance Mechanic Level 1

This is a Maintenance Mechanic Level 1 position at Northrop Grumman, responsible for moving, assembling, and modifying office furniture, and assisting with various facility maintenance tasks including plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and carpentry. The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver's license, computer proficiency, and the ability to obtain a Top Secret clearance. Preferred qualifications include prior maintenance experience, specific trade skills, and experience with maintenance management systems.

What you'd actually do

  1. moving, assembling, modifying modular and fixed office furniture, including sit-stand ergonomic setups
  2. working requests that may fall outside given trade, to include helping with plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, painting, fire systems, grounds, escorting, etc.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Basic understanding of electricity, plumbing and general mechanical aptitude
  • Valid Florida Driver's license with the ability to safely operate large box truck weighing 10,001 – 26,000 lbs.
  • Experience working with computers to receive and close-out work orders, operate in Outlook, Teams, SharePoint
  • Capable of lifting 50+lbs, climbing a ladder, reaching overhead, bending down, full use of both hands, withstanding extreme temperature and/or humidity
  • Ability to obtain and maintain the final adjudicated U.S. Government Top-Secret Clearance and Program Accesses required for the position within a reasonable period of time

Nice to have

  • Active, In-scope DoD Secret or Top-Secret SCI clearance
  • Current CDL License within the state of Florida
  • 2 years of facilities-oriented maintenance experience
  • Experience working in classified spaces, in or around engineering and manufacturing environments
  • Vocational and/or post-secondary education
  • Experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) - Maximo experience preferred
  • Experience with moving heavy equipment (pallet jack, wheel truck, forklifts)
  • Experience installing and/or servicing doors, locks, gates, traffic arms
  • Experience with or ability to learn learn CNC machinery equipment
  • Hands-on experience working on CNC’s Mills, Water Jets, Paint booths, Ovens and other types of Manufacturing Equipment
  • Hands-on Maintenance experience with Mechanical Systems
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Positive customer service experience
  • Welding experience
