Maintenance Pipefitter/plumber

This role involves installing, testing, and repairing various plumbing and pipefitting systems in an industrial plant environment at Boeing. Responsibilities include interpreting blueprints, adhering to codes, and working with different types of pipes and fixtures.

What you'd actually do

  1. Plan, layout, install, test, and repair steam, air, gas, water, oil, gasoline, hydraulic, fire lines, and sanitary plumbing systems in an industrial plant.
  2. Use blueprints, sketches, specifications, knowledge of state, municipal, insurance plumbing codes to determine pipe routing, sequence or operations location of such plumbing fixtures and fittings as valves, meters, hanger inlets and outlets.
  3. Prepare materials list of kind, size, amount of pipe and fillings and working sketch, mark lines and points on walls, floors, ceilings or in open areas to locate pipe routs and fittings, make excess openings; install work; and repair openings.
  4. Install, connect and wipe joints, test, repair such sanitary plumbing fixtures as urinals, toilets, wash basins, drinking fountains; such pressure systems as compressed air, steam, sprinkler, hydraulic, oil, gasoline and gas-fired equipment such as heat treating furnaces, processing tanks, and boilers.
  5. Diagnose trouble in systems and take corrective action, such as repairing and/or replacing, clogged sewer lines, steam equipment, water supply lines, and sprinklers.

Skills

Required

  • 3 or more years of experience installing waste, vent, or plumbing systems.
  • 3 or more years of experience with facilities requirements, analysis, planning, design standards and specifications and building codes.
  • Ability to braise and solder pipes.
  • Ability to plan, lay out pipe routing according to state certified insurance codes, install sanitary plumbing fixtures, read and use blueprints, gas fired equipment.
  • Give instruction to lower level employees and work closely with other crafts.
