The Maintenance Technician 1 role at Target's Supply Chain Facility is responsible for maintaining and repairing automated material handling and facility equipment. This entry-level position involves using preventive and predictive maintenance processes, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, and performing root cause analysis for equipment failures. The role requires basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE), preventative maintenance on facility equipment, and basic electrical maintenance. The technician will also use handheld devices for Work Orders and follow safety procedures.

What you'd actually do

  1. Maintain and perform basic troubleshooting of electrical and mechanical aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, scales and printer applicators
  2. Perform preventative maintenance on facility equipment (i.e. Powered Industrial Trucks, HVAC, air compressors and dryers, and balers)
  3. Perform basic electrical maintenance and simple repair/replace of various electrical circuits and related electronic equipment, using tools such as multi-meters and infrared thermometers
  4. Utilize handheld devices and asset management system mobile apps to create and close Work Orders with appropriate data (labor hours, downtime, problem/cause/remedy, and parts used)
  5. Follow appropriate safety procedures and use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining equipment (Lock Out/Tag Out, Arc Flash, etc.), and ensure a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards

Skills

Required

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license
  • Ability to work in a distribution center environment
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance procedures
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
