This role is for a Maintenance Technician at Northrop Grumman, supporting repairs and modifications for Sonoma Photonics, Inc. The technician will be responsible for general maintenance of facilities, machinery, and equipment, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and vacuum systems. The position requires experience with industrial building construction and high vacuum deposition equipment, along with the ability to troubleshoot and repair various systems. A Secret level DOD security clearance is required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Performs repairs and maintenance in plant or office facilities, or on machines and equipment.
  2. Typically performs work in one or more of the maintenance trades: carpentry, plumbing, painting, machine and equipment repair, electrical, sheet metal fabrication, and welding.
  3. Conducts routine, periodic, or special inspections to determine repair and maintenance work necessary to prevent breakdowns of facilities, machinery, and equipment.
  4. Uses hand and power tools.
  5. Tests, inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs machines and equipment.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • minimum 2 years’ related experience working as a electrical/facilities/maintenance technician (for MT2)
  • minimum 4 years’ related experience working as a electrical/facilities/maintenance technician (for MT3)
  • Experience of vacuum, electrical, hydraulic and other systems
  • Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
  • Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices, which would include various hardware components, fasteners, and installation techniques for electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems
  • Knowledge of electrical skills (installation, troubleshooting, specifying, etc.)
  • Flexibility in schedule: Ability to work flexible, changing shifts, including weekends as business requires
  • Ability to frequently lift and maneuver objects weighing to 50 lbs. independently
  • Able to prioritize and adjust tasks to accomplish the project result
  • Ability to communicating and working in and around ambient noise in an office and industrial environment
  • Able to work in both external and internal environmental conditions
  • Ability to work in areas that could cause various phobias such as heights or close spaces
  • Ability to handle and assemble small parts
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret level DOD security clearance
  • U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite
