Maintenance Technician - Level 2 (weekend Shift)

This role is for a Maintenance Technician Level 2 at Northrop Grumman, focusing on routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and equipment in a manufacturing facility that produces crystalline materials for laser systems. The position requires basic mechanical and electrical knowledge, proficiency with tools, and the ability to read technical documentation. It is not directly related to AI/ML development.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform routine maintenance tasks, including lubrication, belt replacement, and filter changes on pumps, fans, and motors.
  2. Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical issues in machinery and equipment, such as low-voltage motors, controls, and drives.
  3. Repair or replace piping and tubing systems, including iron, copper, and PVC materials.
  4. Work independently or collaboratively with other technicians to identify system issues, determine root causes, and recommend areas for improvement.
  5. Assist engineers with the design, installation, and commissioning of product support equipment, machinery, and systems.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including gears, bearings, alignment, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
  • Basic electrical knowledge, including motor control, electrical distribution, and machinery installation.
  • Basic use of hand tools, power tools, and equipment such as grinders, drills, or saws
  • Proficiency in soldering and brazing copper piping.
  • Physical ability to work from ladders and elevated areas.
  • Capability to repeatedly lift up to 45 pounds during a standard work shift.

Nice to have

  • 5 years of related experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience in servicing and maintaining HVAC equipment.
  • Familiarity with industrial equipment, such as cooling towers, chillers, and air handlers.
  • Associate's degree (two-year technical program) in a related field.
