Manager for a Navigation Section, responsible for both functional homeroom management (20%) and technical contributions (80%) as a technical lead for Navigation engineers on autonomous systems programs. Requires leadership experience, technical expertise in navigation systems (GPS, INS), and proficiency in Matlab/Simulink. Active Secret clearance required.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead team of 10-12 Navigation engineers, including college and high school interns, assigned across multiple programs
  2. Provide personnel with career development, employee engagement, mentoring, and coaching
  3. Coordinate with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance evaluations to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees, and counseling employees on their performance as necessary
  4. Oversee daily operations of the navigation team, ensuring that tasks are prioritized with the AV IPT, delegated, and completed efficiently.
  5. Monitor team performance metrics and provide regular reports to management.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline or Master’s Degree
  • 9 years of related experience (or 7 with Master's)
  • Previous Leadership Experience
  • Experience with Matlab and/or Simulink
  • Understanding of the GPS system and Inertial Navigation System (INS)
