Job Summary:
PayPal’s Risk & Compliance function is looking for an experienced individual to support PayPal World’s business. The ideal candidate would have a strong background in global payments and networks/financial services, including regulatory compliance and data privacy matters associated with facilitating cross-border payments.
Job Description:
**Essential Responsibilities: **
- Identify issues and recommend best practices for risk management within the organization.
- Lead functional projects and programs that enhance risk assessment and mitigation efforts.
- Collaborate with teams to analyze business trends and their implications for risk management.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance the effectiveness of risk management strategies.
- Provide guidance and support to team members in executing risk management initiatives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 5+ years relevant experience and a Bachelor’s degree OR Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Responsibilities & Preferred Qualifications:
Partner closely with internal stakeholders (e.g. Legal, Risk, Product, Technology) to provide compliance advisory guidance on policy adherence and governance-related matters.
Develop, implement and enhance policies around regulatory compliance risk management, including data privacy, for global initiatives and partnerships connected to PayPal World.
Support PayPal World’s business by informing, advising, and monitoring compliance with applicable regulations and data privacy laws.
Serve as primary point of contact for Singapore PDPC and other privacy regulators, helping to build and maintain trusted, confidence-based regulatory relationships for PayPal World.
Report on all relevant regulatory compliance, including privacy, matters into the wider PayPal World governance organization, forums, committees, and complete all associated risk and compliance assessment tasks.
Support the administration of regulatory and privacy compliance assessment processes, including risk assessment and control measures within data protection assessments.
Monitor privacy regulatory developments and identify impact on policies and introduce changes where necessary.
Investigate potential violations or breaches of policies and determine appropriate resolution paths, including remediation actions or enforcement measures.
Serve as a trusted privacy advisor to business units and partners, ensuring alignment between commercial goals and policy adherence.
Identify and monitor emerging and active risks and issues and assist in developing mitigation strategies and supporting their implementation.
Engage with external stakeholders (e.g. financial institutions, regulatory bodies, payment partners, industry consortia) to keep policies up-to-date and in line with market trends/requirements.
Engage Risk and Compliance program stakeholders across the organization to support business initiatives and execute SLOD program requirements.
Provide advisory on Enterprise Risk and Compliance Management Framework within the region, such as Risk Lifecycle, Issue and Incident Management, Obligation and Regulatory Change Management, amongst others.
Support regulatory interactions, or adhoc requests as they arise.
Perform internal and external reporting and support preparation and coordination of various Compliance and/or Regulatory reports.
Prepare/Present Management Information materials to various governance forums and management meetings.
Support internal and external audit exercises and remediation of related actions.
Support any other privacy-related initiatives as they arise.
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in advising on privacy matters in Singapore and international markets.
Hold a data privacy certification e.g. CIPP.
Strong understanding of cross-border payments infrastructure and landscape, including the latest market and regulatory trends.
Experience interacting with regulators preferred.
Experience working for a global company, with multi-disciplinary teams, in a fast-paced, change-intensive environment.
Ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including strengths in influencing, conflict management, and negotiation.
Ability to operate across the compliance risk program and other stakeholders including advisory, monitoring, reporting, and governance.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical/creative thinking.
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills with experience presenting to Senior Leadership.
Ability to travel where required (travel estimated time is less than 10%).
Relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage.
