What you'd actually do

  1. lead a section of approximately 10-15 application software engineers
  2. lead direct report employees based on organizational goals, program activity, and company policies
  3. coordinating with programs for staffing, recruiting, training, preparing and delivering performance reviews to employees, evaluating/recommending employees for promotions, evaluating salaries and coordinating with Human Resources on potential adjustments, assisting employees in preparing performance goals, providing career guidance to employees and counseling employees on their performance as necessary
  4. support and be accountable for goals including: Cultivate an inclusive and engaging workplace. Ensure employees’ work life balance is appropriate
  5. Workforce: maintain staff adequate to execute to program plans, as well as for strategic growth. Plan assignments and fill program needs to ensure success, but which also offer growth to the individuals performing the work

Skills

Required

  • BS + 5 years of exp in related STEM field; MS + 3 years of exp
  • excellent written, communication, and emotional intelligence skills
  • Ability to facilitate/mediate in conflict resolution matters
  • Proficiency in software development, Object Oriented programming, and software lifecycle processes
  • active Secret Clearance
  • work on site at the facility

Nice to have

  • Previous experience as a functional manager or technical team leader
  • hands on experience with DoD communications systems
  • Proficiency in C/C++, Python, Java, XML, Multi-threaded Linux Environments
  • Familiar with OMS/UCI infrastructure
  • Experience with DevOps technologies including Atlassian suite, GitLab, Jenkins, Coverity, BlackDuck
  • direct supervisory experience and/or significant team leadership
  • Familiarity with EVMS Reporting and CAM responsibilities
  • Familiarity with other organizational functions such as supply chain, procurement, logistics, and mission assurance
