Manager Software Engineering 2 at Northrop Grumman, supporting the Sentinel (GBSD) program. The role involves approximately 20% functional management (staffing, recruitment, performance evaluations, career development) and 80% technical duties. The technical focus is leading a Command & Control (C2) Software Test Team of ~20 engineers, responsible for developing, performing, and supporting test activities, documentation, cost account management, risk management, and participating in technical planning, verification, validation, and analysis. The role also involves creating technical reports, presenting results, and leading automation and integration efforts.

What you'd actually do

  1. Responsible for assessing staffing needs, current as well as projected and working with the respective team leads to address those needs.
  2. Responsible for supporting recruitment activities including the creation of requisitions, conducting interviews, and approving offers.
  3. Work with program leaders in establishing personal, program, and functional goals as well as performing performance evaluations and merit adjustments for subordinates.
  4. Provide subordinates with career development recommendations, mentoring, discipline, as necessary.
  5. Generate training plans based on the program and subordinates' needs.
  6. The candidate will lead the Command & Control (C2) Software Test Team, consisting of approximately 20 software test engineers and automation test engineers
  7. Lead a team responsible for developing, performing, and supporting test activities and test documentation at the CSCI level.
  8. Cost Account Management and Risk Management duties.
  9. Participate in technical planning, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for element capabilities.
  10. Review and evaluate test requirements to ensure completeness and compliance of the test program.
  11. Verify specifications and designs through testing, test data processing, and support modeling and simulation and performance analysis.
  12. Site and flight test support for subsystem requirement verification.
  13. Create technical reports and present test and analysis results.
  14. Work with various team members to lead automation and integration of functionality with other software environment.

Skills

Required

  • 8 years of relevant experience with Bachelor’s degree, 6 years with Masters
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 6 years with ability to obtain Special Program Access.
  • At least 1 year experience leading a project and/or driving performance against schedule.
  • At least 2 years of demonstrated experience in embedded and/or application software test planning and software test execution.

Nice to have

  • Experience managing people.
  • Experience as a design engineer or design assurance engineer.
  • Experience with Siemens CPLM and NX or similar.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and/or accomplish them simultaneously.
  • Experience in Mission Assurance / Quality.
  • Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) per ASME Y14.5.
  • Experience with abiding and maintaining a multiphase design/approval process.
  • Experience with abiding and maintaining a Quality Management System.
  • Experience working in an AS9100 or ISO9001 certified workplace.
  • Experience with Agile software development methodologies.
