Manager - Software Engineering

New Relic New Relic · Enterprise · Bangalore, India · Telemetry Data Platform

Manager for Software Engineering at New Relic, focusing on the internal developer platform, security, compliance, and audit reporting. The role involves defining roadmaps, managing backlogs, driving operational efficiency, designing "golden paths" for development, and collaborating with various stakeholders. Requires strong technical background, people management experience, and expertise in distributed systems and cloud platforms.

What you'd actually do

  1. Treat the internal developer platform as a product. Define roadmaps, manage backlogs, and prioritize features based on internal engineer needs and business objectives.
  2. Drive and contribute to our culture of operational and business efficiency: secure code, CI/CD pipelines, unit testing, regression testing, uptime, using smart telemetry data to make decisions, investment in technical and infrastructure debt, and blameless root-cause analysis with a learner and growth mindset.
  3. Design and promote "golden paths" that standardize development, deployment, and testing, reducing friction by fostering self-service environments.
  4. Attend operational review meetings and bring postmortem learnings back to the team and organization.
  5. Learn from some of the brightest minds in the business—who are also looking to learn from you—while coaching and mentoring people.
