Manager Structural Engineering 1

Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman · Aerospace · San Diego, CA +1 · Material/Process

Manager Structural Engineering 1 at Northrop Grumman, responsible for leading an analysis value stream team for Reflector & Booms product lines. The role involves managing team resources, ensuring program performance (quality, technical execution, schedule, cost), and performing structural analysis tasks for metallic and composite structures using FEA. Key responsibilities include assessing structural integrity, interacting with design teams, generating FE models, supporting flight hardware development, planning material characterization tests, and presenting results.

What you'd actually do

  1. Analysis authority for value stream - Experience with composite analysis, material properties and allowables, dynamic analysis, static analysis, etc.
  2. Manage resources in collaboration with analysis functional manager - Escalation, assignments, employee reviews employee development, DLY management, hiring, recruiting, and verification of work completeness and accuracy
  3. Own program performance - SQDEC daily management. Escalation of technical, schedule, and financial issues. Lead and/or support peer reviews at product level. Track first pass yield (FPY) and on time delivery (OTD) for analysis value stream
  4. Program execution and support of program requirements - Ensure technical compliance. Manage risk assessment and management across programs in value stream. Identify needs for allowables development. Ensure static/dynamic test plans are properly coordinated with tool design group. BOE’s and assumptions in support of proposals
  5. Standardize, and improve, analysis processes within value stream - focus value stream lessons learned, best practices, and continuous improvement implementations.
