Manager 3 – System Engineering at Northrop Grumman Defense Systems, leading a group of approximately 40 engineers and 3 managers. Responsibilities include setting strategies for development and implementation of new capabilities and tools, ensuring compliance with internal and Government requirements, and training and development of personnel. The role involves managing execution of System Engineering activities, developing strategic plans for capability improvement, ensuring appropriate staffing, mentoring staff, promoting quality and safety standards, leading technical issue resolution, supporting technical reviews, and maintaining knowledge of System Engineering methods.

What you'd actually do

  1. Managing execution of all System Engineering activities, with focus on technical excellence while meeting schedule and cost objectives.
  2. Development of a strategic plan to improve System Engineering capabilities, processes and tools.
  3. Ensuring that we are appropriately staffed with the right talent and skill levels across the technical staff to support the programs and department budgets.
  4. Mentoring and motivating to ensure a high performing team. This includes use of development plans, stretch assignments, 1:1 meetings and feedback, training, recognition, promotion/equity and other methods to develop and reward our engineering talent.
  5. Setting and promoting high standards for quality and safety through peer reviews, process control, and performance feedback. Ensure compliance with all command media processes and standards in our technical solutions.

  • 5+ years of project team or people leadership experience
