Manager, Trust & Safety Policy

Lyft Lyft · Consumer · San Francisco, CA · Safety Policy

Manager for Lyft's Trust & Safety Policy team, focusing on shaping and implementing platform safety policies. This role will influence the direction of an LLM-first Safety Policy and Operations function, building foundational processes and infrastructure. Responsibilities include developing policy taxonomies, frameworks, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. Requires experience in Trust & Safety policy, AI/LLM application in this domain, and technical acumen to work with engineers.

What you'd actually do

  1. Influence the definition, direction, and priorities for the Safety Policy and Operations function, with moderate guidance from senior leadership.
  2. Establish and enforce policy research standards and methodologies for the creation, maintenance, and depreciation of the foundational unified policy taxonomy, policy modules, style guide, and glossary. Build reusable infrastructure around these tools and create documentation on how to use them.
  3. Develop work products and frameworks—such as a standardized, multi-step lifecycle (policy, detection, investigation, adjudication, sanctions, appeals)—that can be easily adopted by teams outside of Policy to enhance cross-functional alignment.
  4. Act as a strategic partner on high-priority safety areas requiring significant cross-functional collaboration (including with Community Safety, Specialized Support, Legal, Product, Risk, and Communications). Lead projects from idea to positive execution, facilitating the sharing of information and building consensus.
  5. Perform business-relevant, high-quality analyses to identify emerging safety trends and risks, monitor regulatory changes, and integrate data-driven insights to improve Lyft’s Trust & Safety operation. Build pipelines to satisfy and support continuous research needs.
