Manufacturing Development Engineer - Automation

NVIDIA NVIDIA · Semiconductors · Santa Clara, CA

NVIDIA is seeking a Manufacturing Development Engineer with 8+ years of experience in developing and implementing automation solutions in a manufacturing environment. The role involves providing end-to-end manufacturing assembly process solutions, identifying and mitigating risks, developing assembly fixtures, and improving workflow efficiency. The candidate should have a strong understanding of DFM, DFA, DFx, SPC, 6 sigma, and CAD software, with a bachelor's degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent experience.

What you'd actually do

  1. Provide end-to-end manufacturing assembly process solutions, including DFX (design for manufacturing, design for assembly, design for 6-sigma, design for testing, etc.).
  2. Identify, assess, and apply risk mitigation strategies, leading investigations of issues, identifying root causes of product failures, and driving corrective actions.
  3. Review contract manufacturer (CM) readiness, develop assembly fixtures and jigs, and establish clear assembly and manufacturing specifications through a step-by-step validation process.
  4. Gather feedback through DFx, yield issues, and repair center activities to improve workflow efficiency, analyze system assembly gaps, study cosmetic appearances, and identify improvement opportunities.
  5. Review automation options, suggest approaches for reducing waste and cutting costs, recommend technological solutions, product design improvements, and workspace layout changes to ensure high quality and efficiency.
