Northrop Grumman is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to develop and oversee manufacturing processes, create work instructions, improve productivity, analyze data, and resolve manufacturing issues for rocket motor and defense systems. The role requires a BS degree in a relevant engineering field, 2+ years of experience (or Master's with 0 years), and eligibility for a Secret security clearance. Experience in rocket motor manufacturing or similar processes is preferred.

What you'd actually do

  1. The process engineer develops and oversees manufacturing processes based on design requirements.
  2. The candidate will develop and maintain detailed work instructions for assigned products/processes, provide suggestions to improve productivity, compile and analyze processing data, investigate manufacturing problems and implement corrective actions, support proposal and development activities and provide day to day support to manufacturing personnel.
  3. Coordinates with design engineering on design and manufacturability issues.
  4. Evaluates discrepant hardware.
  5. Researches and evaluates commercially available tools and equipment to support manufacturing processes.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent STEM degree
  • 2 years of total relevant experience (for Engineer 2) or 5 years (for Engineer 3)
  • Knowledge of mechanical manufacturing and production processes
  • Ability to interpret 2D drawings
  • Be eligible to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience with rocket motor manufacturing or comparable manufacturing processes
  • Experience with a variety of systems (i.e. pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic)
  • Experience with project management
  • Demonstrated work ethic and hands-on ability
  • Experience with technical writing, writing detailed operating procedures, CAD and GD&T
  • Experience using SPC and Six Sigma techniques
