Manufacturing Engineer – Battery Pack Assembly

Ford Ford · Auto · Dearborn, MI +1 · Manufacturing

Manufacturing Engineer responsible for the technical development, implementation, and launch of battery manufacturing systems for EV vehicles. This role involves end-to-end execution of manufacturing process development, equipment design and buyoff, plant launch support, DFM, PFMEA, and ensuring quality and traceability through digital manufacturing tools and joining technologies.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the engineering of line layouts and implement manufacturing processes for assembly of battery packs.
  2. Provide technical manufacturing input during product concept phases to influence architecture, assembly feasibility, and scalability.
  3. Collaborate with OEMs and automation partners to design manufacturing equipment and tooling. Lead on-site equipment buyoff per acceptance procedures.
  4. Lead equipment installation and commissioning. Support plant operations through SOP (Start of Production) and the "Rate of Climb" phase to achieve OEE, cycle time, and JPH targets.
  5. Drive simultaneous engineering with Product Development, Purchasing, and Suppliers to ensure products are optimized for high-volume manufacturing.
