Manufacturing Engineer - Customer Introduction (mid Level)

This role focuses on manufacturing engineering for new airplane configurations, aiming to reduce factory disruptions by evaluating customer options, developing installation processes, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. It involves assessing technical and manufacturing feasibility, creating impact assessments, and driving continuous improvement in assembly efficiency and product quality.

What you'd actually do

  1. Evaluate customer-selected options and configurations for technical and manufacturing feasibility on behalf of 787 Operations and Manufacturing Engineering (ME).
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to create impact assessments and mitigation plans that reduce factory disruptions.
  3. Lead and support manufacturability assessment workshops for complex commodities, ensuring designs meet in-sequence installation requirements and reduce program impacts.
  4. Develop and implement sequenced installation processes for new designs and out-of-sequence work to minimize production disruptions.
  5. Deliver status report outs on parts, production paperwork, tooling, and engineering releases for the Code 1 airplane, driving issues to resolution.

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience

  • Configuration Development & Management (Option to Engineering to IP, LOPAs)
  • Change Management (MCs, BDCs, RRs, 95000s, Removal/Rework IRMs)
  • Familiarity with Interiors, Systems (Wiring & Electrical, Software, Production Test, Paint)
  • Procurement Types (SFE, SPE, BFE) and their impact on Production/ME
