Manufacturing Engineer – Electrical (associate or Mid-level)

Boeing is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in Electrical manufacturing to support production activities. The role involves developing, implementing, and sustaining manufacturing processes for electrical and electronic assemblies, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness. Responsibilities include process optimization, documentation, failure analysis, and supplier interaction. The position requires hands-on, on-site engagement.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop, qualify, and optimize manufacturing processes for electrical/electronic assemblies, printed circuit board (PCB) production, harnessing/ wiring, and electronic box builds
  2. Produce and maintain manufacturing documentation: process flows, work instructions, assembly guides, routings, tooling specifications, and process control plans
  3. Lead process validations, first-article inspections, failure investigations, root-cause analyses, corrective actions, and continuous improvement efforts
  4. Interface with design engineering, quality, procurement, test engineering, and production teams to resolve manufacturability and producibility issues
  5. Support production ramps, capacity planning, and troubleshooting on the shop floor to ensure schedule and quality targets are met

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • 2+years’ experience with Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design
  • 2+ years’ experience defining process flows, process diagrams, and process documentation
  • Familiarity with soldering processes, automated assembly (pick-and-place, reflow), conformal coating, cable/harness assembly, and electronic test methodologies
  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time domestically

Nice to have

  • Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with cable/harness assembly methodologies
  • Familiarity with IPC standards (e.g., IPC-A-610, J-STD-001), MIL-STD, and DFx/ DFMA for electronics
  • Certification in Lean, Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt), or Manufacturing Engineering certifications
  • Experience with test fixture design, automated test equipment (ATE), and environmental/EMC test support
  • Prior experience with supplier development and qualification programs
