Ford Ford · Auto · Dearborn, MI +1 · Manufacturing

This role is for a Manufacturing Engineer specializing in fastening systems at Ford. The engineer will support program teams in deploying fastening equipment, create and maintain procedures, conduct training, and develop new fastening techniques. Responsibilities include developing fastening system EVPs, ensuring adherence to standards, reviewing parameters, creating single point lessons, leading forums, conducting lab analysis (ultrasound, residual torque, elongation), and using data analysis tools (including AI/Machine Learning) to identify root causes of quality issues. The role also involves training engineering teams and working with vendors on equipment.

What you'd actually do

  1. Develop and review fastening system EVPs for new programs
  2. Create and maintain Fastening Single Point Lessons
  3. Conduct Lab Analysis (Ultrasound, Residual Torque, Elongation) to validate joint design and fastening system parameters
  4. Use data analysis tools (Qualityworx, TNET 8, AI/Machine Learning) to identify root causes of fastening quality issues.
  5. Conduct internal training to improve the fastening skill set of the process and controls engineering teams
