This role focuses on manufacturing engineering for powertrain production equipment, specifically related to package attach and reflow soldering of power electronics components. It involves leading the specification, procurement, build, installation, and launch of this equipment, as well as developing and implementing standardized processes. The role requires collaboration with product engineering, support for prototype and pilot manufacturing, and troubleshooting production issues. Experience with automated high-volume production, package attach/reflow soldering, and cleanroom environments is essential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead the specification, procurement, build, installation and launch of Powertrain Production equipment related to package attach / reflow soldering of powertrain power electronics components.
  2. Develop and deliver standardized processes and equipment in line with global powertrain strategies.
  3. Develop and implement manufacturing process associated with package attach / reflow soldering of power electronics.
  4. Support all inspection processes (cross sectioning, pull tests, etc.)
  5. Collaborate with Product Engineering to achieve a working Product design that meets Manufacturing Design Specifications for package attach / reflow soldering with feasible expectations in the Engineering Specification (ES).

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor of Engineering in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years’ experience in Manufacturing/Assembly utilizing heavily or fully automated high-volume production.
  • Experience with package attach / reflow soldering.
  • Prior experience working in ISO clean room environment manufacturing power electronics
  • Familiarization of ESD controls and measures for handling power electronics
  • Data driven mentality and decision-making process.
  • Mechanical and Controls Engineering aptitude.
  • Project management experience.

Nice to have

  • Consideration will be given to those experienced with other joining methods (ex: other soldering methods or welding)
  • Application experience in computers and electronics.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to learn product function.
  • Handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
