Manufacturing Engineer (level 2)

This role focuses on designing and improving manufacturing processes, production layouts, and tooling for defense sector products. Responsibilities include creating work instructions, using CAD software, troubleshooting machinery and processes, and implementing data-driven methods like statistical process control. Collaboration with engineering, quality, and operations is key.

What you'd actually do

  1. design and improve manufacturing processes, production layouts, and tooling
  2. work hands-on with the factory floor creating MES work instructions, using CAD and NX to develop layouts and fixtures, and adapting equipment and processes to real-world production conditions
  3. troubleshoot issues with machines and processes, drive corrective actions, and help shape products early through design-for-manufacture input
  4. collaborate closely with engineering, quality, and operations
  5. play a key role in implementing data-driven methods such as statistical process control

Skills

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 2 years of experience in manufacturing/production
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Active US Government security clearance of Secret or above
  • Experience authoring & reviewing work instructions (MES & Solumina)
  • Understanding of 5S and Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Use of business intelligence tools (IBM Cognos & Tableau)
  • Ability to review engineering drawings/models for accuracy & manufacturability
  • Experience reviewing & interpreting 3D models via computer-aided design (CAD) tools (Siemens NX & Teamcenter Visualization)
  • Knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) & Product Lifecyle Management (PLM) (Costpoint & Teamcenter)
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (e.g. PowerPoint & Excel)
  • Ability to obtain a DoD secret security clearance
