Manufacturing Engineer – Mission Support (Service & Repair Operations) Saronic Technologies is a leader in revolutionizing autonomy at sea, developing state-of-the-art autonomous surface vessels (ASVs) that enhance maritime operations for the DoD.
Job Overview We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to lead the development and standardization of repair and service processes across Mission Support operations. This role is responsible for transforming complex, often variable post-production work (repairs, retrofits, and service campaigns) into structured, repeatable, and auditable processes within our manufacturing systems. You will work closely with Field Service, Depot Operations, Quality, and Engineering to ensure repair activities are executed consistently, efficiently, and in alignment with evolving quality standards.
Responsibilities Repair Process Development & Standardization
- Design, develop, and implement standardized repair processes for component-level and system-level work (including retrofits, service campaigns, and major repairs)
- Translate field and depot repair activities into structured workflows, including work instructions, routing steps, and repair travelers
- Define and maintain repair kits, configurations, and associated BOM updates where applicable
Manufacturing Systems Integration
- Build and maintain digital repair workflows within the MES/manufacturing system
- Ensure all repair processes are clearly defined, traceable, and executable by technicians in a controlled environment
- Continuously refine system-based processes to improve usability, accuracy, and execution consistency
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Field Service Representatives (FSRs), Depot teams, and Mission Support leadership to capture real-world repair needs and operational constraints
- Collaborate with Quality Engineering to ensure repair processes support inspection points, auditability, and compliance with ISO9001 standards
- Interface with product and test engineering teams to incorporate validated repair methods and failure insights into standardized processes
Continuous Improvement in Service Operations
- Identify opportunities to improve repair efficiency, reduce variability, and increase repeatability across service operations
- Support the transition of ad hoc or emergent repair activities into controlled, repeatable workflows
- Drive process improvements that reduce turnaround time and improve execution quality without sacrificing rigor
Documentation & Compliance
- Develop and maintain clear, controlled documentation for all repair processes
- Ensure processes are structured to support internal audits and quality inspections
- Contribute to the maturation of Mission Support processes in alignment with ISO9001 standards
Training & Operational Support
- Provide guidance and training to technicians and field teams on newly developed repair processes
- Support deployment of new or updated workflows across depot and field environments
- Troubleshoot process gaps and iterate quickly based on operational feedback
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
- 5–8+ years of experience in manufacturing, production engineering, or service/repair operations for complex electromechanical systems
- Experience developing work instructions, routings, and process documentation within an MES or ERP system
- Strong understanding of how to translate variable, real-world work into standardized and repeatable processes
- Experience working cross-functionally with operations, field service, and quality teams
- Familiarity with structured quality systems (ISO9001 or similar) and audit-ready process design
- Ability to operate in environments with both high variability (emergent repairs) and increasing standardization
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to balance speed, structure, and practicality
Nice to Have
- Experience supporting service operations, warranty programs, or post-production repair environments
- Familiarity with diagnostics, failure analysis, or test engineering workflows (in collaboration, not ownership)
- Exposure to maritime, robotics, or autonomous systems
