Manufacturing Engineering Manager for a defense technology company specializing in Autonomous Underwater Vehicles (AUVs). The role involves leading a team to improve manufacturing processes, ensure quality, and support new product development and scaling to full production. Experience in electromechanical hardware manufacturing and team leadership is required, with a preference for maritime robotics.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead and directly manage a small team of manufacturing engineers overseeing a product line or distinct value-stream within manufacturing
  2. Run weekly 1v1 / team meetings, set prioritization focus, coordinate team scheduling, and provide concise status reporting
  3. Extremely high level of product ownership and adherence to manufacturing engineering best practices
  4. Organize DFX efforts and ensure timely completion of production readiness deliverables
  5. Mentor and support junior manufacturing engineers and serve as a role model for manufacturing excellence

Skills

Required

  • Degree in a technical field such as engineering, math, or a hard science
  • 7+ years of experience in a relevant field, preferably manufacturing or design of electromechanical hardware
  • 3+ years demonstrated in-kind or direct team leadership skills, with backing examples
  • Demonstrated ability to creatively deliver electromechanical hardware in a resource-constrained environment
  • Personal experience physically manufacturing hardware via any means (machining, fabrication, soldering, assembly, etc.)
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

Nice to have

  • Experience in maritime robotics (AUVs, UUVs, USVs, subsea sensors)
  • Experience working with electrical systems up to 400VDc
  • Subsea cable splicing or fabrication experience
  • Experience with pressure vessels and/or industrial pressure test equipment
  • Prior experience working with JIRA, Siemens NX, Teamcenter (PLM), or Oracle (ERP) or equivalents
  • Experience with large scale high mix manufacturing at different stages of product maturity
