Modern Manufacturing Project Engineer
Location: Thailand or Indonesia facilities
Job Type: Full‑Time Organization: Modern Manufacturing Transformation (MMT) - AP Job Grade: SG23
Role Summary
The Modern Manufacturing Project Engineer plays a critical role in supporting and executing modern manufacturing (MM) initiatives across SE Asia facilities. This role focuses on translating modern manufacturing strategies into scalable, shop‑floor solutions through automation, digitalization and solution integrations and also works as bridge to collect the requirements and functional needs from reginal customers.
The position works closely with facility teams, MMT global development teams, compliance, IT, and indirect purchasing team to support the facility team to deliver the Modern manufacturing (MM) projects that improve safety, quality, velocity, and cost, while enabling replication across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Modern Manufacturing Project Execution
- Offer the end‑to‑end execution of modern manufacturing projects.
- Translate business needs and MMT strategy into clear project scopes, technical requirements, schedules, and deliverables.
- Collect the voice of regional facilities and transfer to MMT design team, if there is no solution ready in MENU
- Drive pilot implementations at selected facilities and support replication to additional sites.
Technical Leadership & Engineering Excellence
- Provide hands‑on engineering solution in manufacturing process design, equipment integration, and system deployment.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, IT, indirect purchasing team and external suppliers to ensure technical feasibility, robustness, and sustainability of solutions.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration
- Partner with facility leadership, operations, quality, maintenance, IT, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment and successful adoption.
- Serve as a key interface between local facilities and global MMT development and deployment teams.
- Support knowledge sharing, standard work development, and best‑practice replication across the enterprise.
Continuous Improvement & Lean Integration
- Apply Lean manufacturing principles as the foundation for modern manufacturing solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve safety, quality, throughput, and cost through process optimization and technology enablement.
- Ensure projects align with MM assessment frameworks and support facility maturity advancement.
Project Management & Governance
- Manage project plans, risks, budgets, and performance metrics.
- Prepare clear technical and executive‑level updates for project leadership team.
- Ensure compliance with Caterpillar change control, safety, and engineering standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation or related field on engineering.
- 5+ years of experience working in manufacturing or production environments (machining, assembly, fabrication, etc.)
- Strong communication skills in English and Thai or Bahasa Indonesia.
- Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, production systems, shop‑floor operations, and process flows
- Experience leading cross‑functional projects in a plant or multi‑plant environment.
- knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multi‑site deployment or replication of manufacturing solutions.
