Caterpillar is seeking a Manufacturing Project Engineering Manager to lead manufacturing projects focused on improving critical business processes, driving financial results, and enhancing productivity and cost-effectiveness. The role involves scoping projects, developing business cases, leading improvement teams, and providing technical expertise in a manufacturing environment. Experience with automation, digitisation, and project management is highlighted.

What you'd actually do

  1. Lead Manufacturing projects with an average savings per project of $150,000 and concurrently lead 1-3 projects of this magnitude.
  2. Identify opportunities, define and financially justify projects.
  3. Manage the development and maintenance of methods and systems for measuring the degree to which the Manufacturing project goals, objectives and metrics are being met.
  4. Identify integration issues with other projects/processes and coordinate the improvements with the appropriate project/process owners to accomplish the project goals.
  5. Recruit and train team members.

  • Significant experience or technical expertise in designing and/or redesigning service systems such as heat treat equipment, machine tool electrical systems, material handling, filtration, paint systems, and utilities (e.g., water, gas, steam, air, HVAC), or similar infrastructure.
  • Experience in fields of manufacturing such as welding, heat treat, and manufacturing technology.
  • Good understanding of product design to combine with process design expertise.
  • Analytical ability as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving.
  • Experience working collaboratively with cross-functional teams such as Product Development, Engineering, Quality, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Product Support and Operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to learn new concepts and apply statistical analysis, with strong foundational computer skills.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in an appropriate engineering or technical discipline combined with previous relevant project leading experience or equivalent experience desired.
