Manufacturing Quality Engineer

This role is for a Manufacturing Quality Engineer at Apple, focusing on quality processes for consumer packaging parts and assemblies. Responsibilities include developing quality control regimes, conducting DOEs, qualifying regimes for mass production, leading production line qualification, mitigating quality issues with suppliers, and ensuring product quality consistency. The role requires interaction with design teams and coordination between Asia and US-based teams.

What you'd actually do

  1. In this highly visible role, you will manage selection, implementation & optimization of quality processes for consumer packaging parts and assemblies for our legendary highly cosmetic consumer products.
  2. Responsibilities include developing new quality control regimes to enable current and future product designs, conducting DOEs to validate quality systems, and qualifying these regimes for mass production.
  3. Full ownership providing end to end solutions including all aspects of equipment selection, setup, process definition, qualification, and mode of operation to ensure a robust quality system.
  4. Lead production line qualification prior to mass production.
  5. A heavy emphasis will be on working with suppliers to triage and mitigate quality issues during ramp up and mass production through lightning fast reactions to quality excursions, deep diving on failure analysis and creating robust corrective actions to prevent customer exposure while enabling continued mass production.

Skills

Required

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • fluent in English
  • University degree in Print / Chemical / Mechanical / Packaging Engineering or equivalent quality work experience
  • 3+ years work experience in a quality, print, or colour management role in the Asia-Pacific region

Nice to have

  • Ability to use and implement statistical process control and quality control tools to make data driven decisions
  • Ability to understand GD&T, drawing specifications, and their applications to quality process
  • Ability and willingness to work independently and travel frequently upon request
  • A team player who is self-motivated, defining and closing all engineering tasks to meet project objectives, detailed oriented to cut to the root of problems, and ability to learn quickly with little information or support
  • Expertise in quality control or processing of highly cosmetic print process (flexo, gravure, offset, digital, etc), decoration (foiling, emboss/deboss, lamination, etc), specialized print raw materials, or related processes is an asset
