This role is for a Manufacturing Technician Level 1 at Northrop Grumman, supporting the Copper Crossing Value Stream facility. The primary responsibilities involve hands-on manufacturing of composite rocket cases, including tooling assembly/disassembly, surface preparation, operating winding composite equipment, and maintaining work area cleanliness. The position requires adherence to procedures, safe handling of materials and equipment, blueprint reading, and quality monitoring. It is a weekday night shift position with potential overtime and travel.

What you'd actually do

  1. performs hands on activities/tasks associated with manufacturing of composite rocket cases
  2. Tasks may include but are not limited to Tooling Assembly/Disassembly, Case Surface Preparation, winding composite equipment operation, maintaining cleanliness of the work area and facilities, and other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  3. participate as a team member to positively influence and enhance the safety, quality, cost and schedule of their team
  4. Must be willing to perform shift work and overtime, as required. This could include weekends and holidays.
  5. Required to perform safe handling of hazardous waste materials for disposal.

Skills

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years manufacturing experience
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Ability to perform safe handling of hazardous waste materials
  • Ability to understand and apply stringent procedures
  • Ability to safely handle equipment and materials
  • Ability to operate industrial equipment (bridge cranes, forklifts, precision measuring instruments, hand tools)
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to monitor and verify quality
  • Ability to work a physically demanding day (stand for long periods, work from knees, ascend/descend ladders, lift/bend/twist/push/pull up to 50 lbs.)
  • Ability to wear protective equipment
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions
  • Basic math and measurement functions
  • Ability to start and end helicals and hoops in carbon winding process
  • Ability to continuously monitor machinery
  • Ability to weigh material for mixing process
  • Ability to work with resins and carbon fiber
  • Ability to work with chemical cleaning process
  • Ability to work with aluminum oxide cloth
