Manufacturing Technician Level 4 at Northrop Grumman, responsible for performing manufacturing operations, including set-up, calibration, rework, and quality testing of electro/mechanical assemblies for the aerospace industry. Requires proficiency with work instructions, drawings, technical manuals, hand tools, and knowledge of ESD, FOD, and tool control. Ability to identify problems and troubleshoot is essential.

What you'd actually do

  1. Perform functions associated with all manufacturing operations, including working with engineers in set-up and calibration tasks, as well as performing rework and quality testing related to the production of parts, components, subassemblies and final assemblies.
  2. Use sophisticated programs to collect and evaluate operating data to conduct on-line adjustments to products, instruments or equipment.
  3. Determine and may assist in developing methods and procedures to control or modify the manufacturing process.
  4. Work with engineers in conducting experiments.

Skills

Required

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education and/or related experience within manufacturing.
  • Proficient with work instructions, engineering drawings, and technical manuals to perform a variety of electro/mechanical assembly operations on moderate to complex assemblies and sub-assemblies used in the aerospace industry
  • Experience with connector population, wire cutting, contact crimping, wire/cable routing, component installation, hardware torque and general mechanical assembly of chassis, racks, test sets and/or other electrical-mechanical boxes
  • Proficient in the use of hand tools such as crimpers, strippers, cordless drill and rotary tools
  • Knowledge of ESD, FOD, and tool control
  • Document actions by completing production plans and complying with quality standards and requirements
  • Strong understanding of engineering drawings, instructions, parts lists, and schematics
  • Ability to identify problems and troubleshoot to develop, evaluate options and propose solutions
  • Physical ability to perform the job while prioritizing safety. This frequently includes lifting up to 20lbs, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, stooping, pushing, pulling, grasping and climbing.

  • Active or ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security clearance of Secret or above
